FIFA has revealed the seven nations who will join hosts Russia among the top-seeded countries for the draw for next year's World Cup.

World football's governing body has confirmed defending champions Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland and France will be in the top pot for December's draw in Moscow.

It comes after the publication of the latest rankings, with the top seven teams accompanying Russia as the top-seeded nations.

France have usurped 2010 World Cup winners Spain as the seventh-ranked team to ensure they will be seeded for next year's tournament.

Spain will be in the second pot of teams along with the likes of England.

The Spanish side moved into the top 10 in the latest FIFA rankings after climbing from 11th to eighth.

Peru have also joined the 10 best countries in the world, moving two places from 12th, after setting up an inter-continental play-off against New Zealand for a place at the World Cup.

FIFA has extended the international window next month to give the two countries more travel and recovery time for the tie.

The first leg of the play-off is due to be held at the Wellington Regional Stadium on November 11 before the return takes place at the Estadio Nacional of Peru in Lima on November 15.

The other intercontinental play-off will be between Australia and Honduras.

Australia will travel to Honduras for the first leg at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula on November 10.

The second leg is scheduled for November 15 at the Stadium Australia in Sydney.

The four seeded and four unseeded teams in the European play-offs have also been confirmed today.

Denmark will be seeded after overtaking Northern Ireland in the rankings and they will be joined by Switzerland, Italy and Croatia.

Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden and Greece are the unseeded nations.

The four winners of the play-offs will book their ticket to the World Cup.

The draw is due to be held in Zurich tomorrow.
