Both Hungary's Kristóf Rasovszky and Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil were crowned winners at the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Marathon Swimming World Cup event in Chun'an County in China following the use of video technology.

Chun'an County's Qiandao Lake played host to the sixth leg of this year’s World Cup.

Rasovszky and Allan do Carmo of Brazil were fighting for first place in the dying stages of the men's race.

However, both touched the finishing pad at the same time in 1 hour 31mins 52.4sec.

Video technology adjudged the Hungarian to have finished first.

Do Carmo was left to settle for the silver medal while another Brazilian, Fernando Ponte, took bronze in 1:31.54.9

Olympic and world champion Ferry Weertman of The Netherlands endured a frustrating day and came fourth in 1:31.56.9.

In the women's race, video technology was pivotal once again as three-time World Championships gold medallist Cunha eventually prevailed.

She finished in the same time as Italian Arianna Bridi in 1:37.29.2, but the South American was declared the winner after referees consulted a video replay.

Viviane Jungblut of Brazil rounded out the podium in 1:37.30.8.

"The competitions in recent years became more and more close, I was ready for that," Cunha said according to Xinhua.

"My coach told me to swim as fast as I can in the last 200 metres."

The seventh and final stop of the World Cup will be held in Hong Kong on October 21.
