Defending champions China are safely through to the semi-finals of the mixed team event at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Junior Championships in Yogyakarta, following a comfortable win over hosts Indonesia today.

The Chinese bid for back-to-back Suhandinata Cups continued in emphatic fashion as they silenced the GOR Among Rogo Arena to win 3-1.

Fan Qiuyue and Wang Chang claimed the first point of the match as they won the men's doubles rubber for China 13-21, 21-18, 21-15 against Indonesia's Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Adnan Maulana.

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung then levelled the match as she prevailed in the women's singles 21-17, 21-17 against Han Yue.

Yupeng Bai put China in front once again as he beat Gatjra Piliang Fiqihilahi Cupu 16-21, 21-15, 21-13 in the men's singles.

Liu Xuanxuan and Yuting Xia then secured China's place in the last four as they overcame Jauza Fadhila Sugiarto and Ribka Sugiarto 21-9, 21-15 in the women's doubles.

They will now play Japan for a place in the final after they edged past Thailand 3-2.

Rin Iwanaga and Natsu Saito claimed the decisive point in their women's doubles match.

They defeated Thai duo Supisara Paewsampran and Kwanchanok Sudjaipraparat 17-21, 21-11, 21-14 to move into the last four.

Top seeds South Korea are also through after they beat France, the only European nation left in the competition prior to today.

France had gone 2-0 up but the Koreans staged a stunning recovery to progress.

Se Young An, who had earlier won her women's singles match, teamed up with Min Jeong in the fifth and final rubber to play Vimala Heriau and Leonice Huet in the women's doubles.

Se and Min went on to win 21-16, 16-21, 21-15 meaning the Koreans advanced 3-2.

Malaysia completed the semi-final line-up after they brushed aside India 3-0.
