Malaysia's national bowls coach Zuraidi Puteh has claimed his team is on track for success at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games after the country dominated the 12th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships in India.

In an emphatic display at the RK Puram’s Sports Complex in New Delhi, the Malaysians claimed five of a possible eight senior gold medals.

Wearing their distinctive yellow and black Malay Tiger outfits, Malaysian bowlers captured gold in the men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s pairs and the women’s fours.

Mohammad Soufi Rusli claimed the men's singles title while Malaysian star Siti Zalina Ahmad won an unprecedented tenth women’s singles gold medal at these championships.

Hizlee Rais and Fairul Muin combined to win the men's pairs title and Zalina Ahmad and Auni Kamis won the women's equivalent.

Malaysia's dominance was then complete when Nabilah Tarmizi, Kamis, Zuraini Khalid, Azalina Arshad secured the women's fours title.

“Success does not come easy," Puteh told Malaysia's The Star Online.

"They have worked for it, spending hours in training to get these results.

"We are on the right track for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

“We cannot take the foot off the pedal.

"We must continue to be on our toes because the top nations will be competing in the Commonwealth Games."

The Malaysian team will be aiming to improve on their performance at Glasgow 2014, where they only managed two silver medals.

Elsewhere in the competition, hosts India clinched gold medals in the men’s and women’s triples gold medals.

The team of Chandan Kumar Singh, Sunil Chhetry and Dinesh Kumar won the men's title, while Farjana Khan, Pinki and Nayan Mani were crowned women's champions.

A Singapore quartet claimed the men’s fours title.

Anthony Loh, Melvin Tan, Kevin Pang and Bernard Foo were successful.

In the under-25 competitions, India claimed another gold medal when rising star Alok Iakra won the boy’s singles crown.

Hong Kong's teen sensation Gloria Ha took the girl’s singles gold before then joining forces with compatriot James Po to collect the mixed pairs title.
