Defending champions China maintained their ominous start to the mixed team competition as they comfortably beat Denmark at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Junior Championships in Yogyakarta.

China looked in good form and continued their defence of the Suhandinata Cup in style with a 5-0 victory over their Group G opponents at the GOR Among Rogo Arena.

Chen Sihang and Wang Chang got the Chinese team off to the best possible start as they won their men's doubles encounter against Sebastian Gronbjerg and Daniel Lundgaard 21-17, 21-10.

Han Yue put China 2-0 in front with a 21-13, 21-13 success over Line Christopherson in the women's singles, before Yupeng Bai wrapped up the tie by beating Mads Thorgsen 21-9, 21-4 in their men's singles match

Yuting Xia and Zhang Suxian heaped more misery on the Danes, who have chosen to field an experimental side at the Championships, as they dispatched Amelie Magelund and Freja Ravn 21-15, 21-16 in their women's doubles clash.

The 5-0 whitewash was then completed by Fan Qiyue and Liu Xuanxuan, who won their mixed doubles match with Alexandra Boje and Jesper Toft 21-16, 21-18.

Hosts Indonesia also recorded their second successive 5-0 win as they proved too strong for Mongolia in Group H1.

"We won easily today as expected," Indonesia's team manager, Susy Susanti, said.

"Our athletes showed their best but we keep reminding them not to underestimate the opponents and to stay focused.

"We will play Spain tomorrow and they are a much better team than the other two in our group."

The mixed team tournament, which precedes the main World Junior Championships, continues tomorrow.
