Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini has retained her position at the top of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) women’s world rankings.

El Sherbini has headed the standings for the 18 consecutive months and will look to justify her status at the US Open next week.

France’s Camille Serme has moved up to her equal career high of second place in the rankings, having pushed Egypt’s Raneem El Welily into third.

England’s Laura Massaro remains in fourth position, with Egypt’s Nouran Gohar rising two places to fifth.

She returns to the top five after a month's absence, having ended as the runner-up at the China Open and claiming her first title of the season at the Macau Open.

Gohar’s rise has seen Malaysia’s Nicol David and England’s Sarah-Jane Perry drop one place to sixth and seventh respectively.

The men’s world rankings are largely unchanged, with the top 10 retaining their positions in the standings.

Gregory Gaultier of France is set to enjoy a fifth straight month at the top of the rankings, but his advantage over Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad has been reduced to 207 points.

Gawad, the reigning world champion, finished as the runner-up at the Oracle NetSuite Open.

Gaultier was unable to defend his title at the event, having been forced to withdraw with an ankle injury.

Having beaten Gawad in the final, Mohamed Elshorbagy strengthens his grip on third place in the rankings.

The Egyptian lies clear of fourth place Nick Matthew of England, as well as his compatriots Ali Farag and Marwan ElShorbagy.
