World Para Dance Sport has announced details of the 2017 World Championships, which will be held on October 21 and 22 in Malle in Belgium.

Nearly 170 athletes from 22 nations are expected to compete in 18 medal events, an increase of four from the 2015 World Championships in Italian capital Rome.

Malle 2017 will be the second World Championships to feature single and freestyle events, after both disciplines were added in 2014.

Competition will begin on October 21 with women's single class one and class two events.

The men will then take to the floor for their respective single class one and two competitions.

Following a technical break, the Opening Ceremony will welcome all the dancers to the floor at the Provincial Training Centre venue.

Competition will then continue with combi-Latin class one and two, and duo standard class one and two.

The day will finish with finals in all eight events and the world champions being crowned.

Events on October 22 open with the women's single freestyle class one and two events, followed by the men's single class one and two.

It will be the first time both the women and men's single freestyle class one competitions will be contested at a World Championships, as only class two events were held in Rome.

Couples will then take to the dance floor in the afternoon, first with the combi-standard class one and two events.

These will be followed by the duo latin class two and one events, as well as the combi-freestyle class one and two events.
