The South Korean ambassador, Hu Kang-il, visited the offices of the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) in Dublin in preparation for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.

Expressing confidence that the country would be able to welcome the world to the 23rd Olympic Winter Games, Hu met with OCI President Sarah Keane and honorary secretary Sarah O'Shea.

Stephen Martin, the OCI's chief executive who will serve as Ireland's Chef de Mission at Pyeongchang 2018, was also in attendance.

The South Korean embassy will now provide a cultural insight into the Asian host nation at the OCI's winter sport Pyeongchang team day.

This is due to be held at the Institute of Sport in the Dublin suburb of Abbotstown next month.
