Santini Cycling Wear have officially unveiled their International Cycling Union (UCI) rainbow collection for 2018 at the Road World Championships here in Bergen.

The UCI partner produce the rainbow jerseys which are won by world champions in each of cycling’s disciplines throughout the calendar year.

“This 2018 Santini UCI rainbow collection reflects the long-lasting relationship Santini and the UCI have had for more than 20 years,” said Cyrille Jacobsen, the UCI head of marketing.

“It is a relationship of which we are extremely proud.”

Santini state the world champion jerseys are at the heart of the collection, which also includes technical cycling wear for men and women.

The clothing, made entirely in Italy, also features a casual range of sweatshirts, t-shirts and accessories, inspired by the rainbow stripes.

Slovakia’s Peter Sagan, winner of the last two editions of the men’s road world title, claimed it had been an honour to wear the rainbow jersey during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

“I am extremely happy to be in the rainbow stripes,” he said.

“And to win while wearing this jersey is truly an incredible feeling.”

The Slovak will seek to secure another year in the rainbow jersey tomorrow, when he looks to achieve an unprecedented third straight victory at the Road World Championships.

Sagan will be among the starters for the men’s, which will be the final race of this year’s event in the Norwegian city.

Next year's Road World Championships will take place in Innsbruck, with Austrian organisers having confirmed the courses earlier this week.
