China's Lin Gaoyuan upset his higher ranked team-mate Fan Zhendong to claim the biggest singles title of his career at the 2017 International Table Tennis Federation Asian Cup in Indian city Ahmedabad.

It came on another day of Chinese domination at The Arena on which top seed Zhu Yuling beat Liu Shiwen in the women's singles final.

Lin, ranked 29th in the world, was always an underdog against Fan, the world number two and top seed in the absence of world and Olympic champion Ma Long.

But the 22-year-old left handed player started well and never fell behind.

He won the first, third and fifth sets before holding his nerve in the sixth to triumph 11-7, 7-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-5.

It marked the 10th successive Chinese victory at the annual event.

World Championship bronze medallist Lee Sang-su of South Korea earned bronze in a 11-7, 11-7, 10-12, 11-3, 12-10 win over Taiwan's Chen Chien-An.

Zhu was pushed ever closer before pipping Liu Shiwen 4-3 in a high quality women's final.

The top seed twice lost a game from deuce against the defending champion.

But Zhu, who also won the 2012 World Junior Championships on Asian courts in Hyderabad, recovered time after time to win 6-11, 11-9, 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, 11-13, 11-6.

Kasumi Ishikawa won an all-Japanese bronze medal match against Miu Hirano 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-3, 9-11, 11-8.
