Olympic champions Brazil overcame the United States in five sets today to make it back-to-back wins at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Grand Champions Cup in Japan.

Wallace De Souza registered a team-high 22 points for the holders on their way to a 28-26, 15-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-13 success at Osaka's Municipal Central Gymnasium.

Mauricio Borges, Ricardo Lucarelli and Lucas Saatkamp helped Wallace out with 18, 16 and 12 points respectively.

The US’s Matthew Anderson topped all scorers with 27 points.

Brazil’s victory comes on the back of their straight-sets triumph over Iran yesterday and moves them onto three wins from four matches.

Another country sharing the same record are Italy, who beat France 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 today.

Luca Vettori scored 24 points, including 22 attacks, a block and an ace, to earn the Italians their third straight victory.

Filippo Lanza and Oleg Antonov were also influential, scoring 14 points apiece.

Jean Patry top scored for France with 21 points.

Italy’s three-match winning streak is their first at the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup since winning their first seven matches.

Today's other match saw Iran defeat hosts Japan 21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-14 to join Brazil and Italy on a 3-1 win-loss record.

One match remains for each country.

Italy will play the US tomorrow, with Iran meeting France and Brazil taking on Japan.

The event features four continental champions, hosts Japan and Italy, who are playing as the FIVB's wildcard.

All three of the final rounds are taking place in Osaka after the first two were played in Nagoya.
