World number three Hewett beat Reid 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 at Flushing Meadows in New York City and will now face 2013 champion Stephane Houdet of France in the final tomorrow.

The Briton will be looking to add the US Open title to the French Open crown he won earlier this year.

Houdet defeated world number one Gustavo Fernández of Argentina 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the second semi-final.

Fernández was contesting a Grand Slam as the top-ranked player for the first time in his career having assumed the status in July,

Hours after playing against each other, Hewett and Reid then teamed up to win the men's doubles event with victory over top seeds Houdet and fellow Frenchman Nicolas Peifer.

The British second seeds, who beat the French duo to retain their Wimbledon title this summer, triumphed 7-5, 6-4.

In the women's singles, world number one Yui Kamiji of Japan is through to the final after she beat 2013 champion Aniek van Koot of The Netherlands 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Diede de Groot is also through after she prevailed in an all-Dutch match against Marjolein Buis 6-4, 6-4.

Rio 2016 Paralympic doubles silver medallists Buis and De Groot then paired up to win the women's doubles event.

They overcame the unseeded duo of American Dana Mathewson and Van Koot 6-4, 6-3.

Elsewhere, Britain's Andy Lapthorne and David Wagner of the United States won the wheelchair quad doubles title.

They beat Australian Dylan Alcott and Bryan Barten of the US 7-5, 6-2 in the final.

The victorious pair will also meet in tomorrow's quad singles final after emerging strongest from the tournament's round-robin format.
