It will come during a two-day visit four days after the Californian city is set to be confirmed as host of the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Bach will light the cauldron during an NFL encounter between the Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Redskins, the South California News Group reported.

The Coliseum is due to undergo a renovation before hosting athletics and Opening and Closing Ceremonies in 2028.

It is already the first stadium to have hosted the Summer Olympics twice, in 1932 and 1984.

This will mark Bach's first official visit to Los Angeles since January 2016.

He has travelled to United States this year, though, meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House in June.

The IOC approved plans to award both the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games here next week at an Extraordinary IOC Session in Lausanne in July.

Los Angeles has since announced its intention to focus on 2028, leaving Paris as the sole contender for 2024.

A "vote" to officially confirm the two host cities will take place on September 13.

Bach himself played a key role in forcing through the joint awarding plans.

He has repeatedly described the decision as a "win, win, win" for both organisations as well as for the IOC.
