Vitaly Fokeev won home gold for Russia by clinching the men's double trap title at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Championships in Moscow.

The 43-year-old returned to the top of the podium at the event 11 years after winning his first world title in Zagreb in 2006.

Fokeev came through an exciting duel with India's Ankur Mittal which came down to the last two pairs of targets.

Mittal missed three out of his four clays but Fokeev missed just one to seal the gold medal.

The Russian won with a score of 68 hits out of 80, as Mittal, the 25-year-old winner of the ISSF World Cup stage in Acapulco this season, ended on 66.

China's Hu Binyuan, the bronze medallist at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, bagged the same colour medal today with 50 hits.

"As you can imagine I'm very happy to be the winner," said Fokeev, the trap champion at the 2015 European Games in Baku.
