Lithuania ended the 100 per cent record of Italy with a 78-73 victory on day four of EuroBasket.

The world number five side, the runners-up behind Spain at the last EuroBasket in 2015, suffered a shock defeat to begin their tournament as they lost 79-77 to Georgia on August 31.

They recovered to beat Israel - one of four host nations - yesterday and have now made it two wins from three with their tournament appearing to be back on track.

The first quarter ended 23-all but the Lithuanians - three-time Olympic bronze medallists - had a nine-point lead at half-time.

Both the third and fourth quarters were shaded by Italy but Lithuania had already done enough.

Every game in Group C is being played at the Menora Mivtachim Arena in Israeli city Tel Aviv.

Ukraine recorded their first victory of the tournament by beating Georgia 88-81.

Israel then recorded their first win while inflicting Germany's first defeat.

The host nation edged a tight contest 82-80 to get their tournament up and running.

The third round of matches were also played in Group A today at the Hartwall Arena in Finnish capital Helsinki.

World number four France won their second match by beating winless Iceland in style, 115-79.

The French, like Lithuania, began the tournament with a shock defeat as they were beaten by Finland.

Slovenia maintained their fine form by keeping their 100 per cent record intact.

They condemned Greece to a second defeat in three with a 78-72 success.

Hosts Finland needed two periods of overtime to finally get past Poland.

An engaging affair eventually went the way of the host nation, 90-87.

The third matches in Groups C and D will be played tomorrow.

The top four sides in each group will reach the last-16.
