Leading Costa Rica’s attack was Pedro Rojas with 11 points.

Today’s other match in Group A saw Canada cruise to a 91-41 victory over Venezuela to make it three wins out of three.

Patrick Anderson led Canada’s scoring with 33 points, shooting 92 per cent from inside the three-point line.

Manuel Aragort was Venezuela’s stand-out performer, registering 15 points and 10 rebounds.

In Group B, defending champions the United States stretched their winning start to three matches by beating Uruguay 78-24.

Leading the way for the Americans was Brian Bell, who scored 25 points.

Uruguay’s scoring charts were headed by Jorge La Paz with 13 points.

Also tasting victory in Group B today were Brazil, who defeated hosts Colombia 73-57.

Marcos Silva amassed an unrivalled 22 points for Brazil, while Johan Vargas managed a team-best of 18 for Colombia.

The top four men’s teams will secure their place at next year’s International Wheelchair Basketball Federation World Championships, scheduled to take place in German city Hamburg.

The one-group women’s competition also continued today as Brazil overcame South American rivals Argentina 62-21.

Vileide Almeida was Brazil’s top scorer with 14 points and she also managed six rebounds and five assists.

Her points tally was matched by Argentina’s captain Silvia Linari.

In the second women’s game of the day, Canada preserved their undefeated record with a 69-48 win over the US.

Arinn Young registered a game-best 22 points and 13 rebounds for Canada, while Desiree Miller led the US’s scoring with 20 points.
