The result saw Canada finish top of the standings in front of France, who secured their second win by beating South Korea 63-53.

Latvia finished in third, with South Korea bottom after three straight defeats.

Group D concluded with Japan sealing a 91-52 win over Mexico to preserve their 100 per cent record, with their opponents finishing in fourth.

Australia beat Hungary 75-51 to finish second.

Russia had already topped the Group B standings but overcame winless Puerto Rico 85-50, with Spain then beating Egypt 88-71 to finish second.

The United States won Group A by beating Italy 66-49, while China won 72-54 against Mali to end second.

Each nation will take part in the last 16 of the competition, ranked by their performances.

Defending champions the United States will take on Puerto Rico, with the winners facing France or Hungary in the last eight.

Italy will clash with Spain for the right to meet South Korea or Japan, while China and Egypt will go head to head for the chance to meet the victors of the match between Canada and Mexico.

Mali will face Russia, with the winners facing either Australia or Latvia.

Quarter-finals are then scheduled to take place on July 28, with the semi-finals taking place a day later.

The final and third place play-off are scheduled to take place on July 30.
