Proceedings in the Pool A clash against Turkey were wrapped up in four innings at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Florida, as the hosts showed they mean business with a 13-0 win.

Madilyn Nickles was the US team’s top scorer with four runs.

They followed this up with another easy win against Guatemala inside three innings 14-0.

Also in Pool A, Chinese Taipei edged Guatemala 2-1 while The Philippines defeated Italy 10-3.

The Philippines could not follow this success up with another though as they lost 13-0 in five innings to Chinese Taipei.

The other match in Group A saw South Africa beat Turkey 16-3.

Action in Pool B saw the top seeds Japan ease to a 22-0 win over Israel before seeing off Peru 7-0.

Australia bagged victories against Peru, 12-5, and The Netherlands, 3-0, while The Bahamas hammered Israel 10-0.

Brazil were made to work hard by the Dutch as they battled to a 4-3 victory.

Puerto Rico and New Zealand played out an entertaining match in Pool C, which the former eventually won 7-5.

The Czech Republic started their campaign with two wins, first beating India 14-2 and then completing a 6-0 success against Argentina.

Argentina lost their other Pool C match today, going down 12-9 to the Dominican Republic.

China also started the tournament with a pair of victories, defeating Ireland 12-1 and Great Britain 7-1.

Britain were able to secure a 1-0 win over South Korea while Canada beat Mexico 2-1.
