Russia’s Vladimir Lisin has been re-elected as the European Shooting Confederation following the organisation's General Assembly.

The meeting took place in Azerbaijan capital city of Baku, where the European Shooting Championships are currently taking place at the Olympic Shooting Range.

Representatives from 45 Member Federations of the ESC were at the Assembly, held at the Boulevard Hotel.

The 61-year-old Lisin, a steel tycoon ranked by Forbes as the 72nd richest man in the world with a fortune estimated to be $14.1 billion (£10.9 billion/€12.1 billion), has been head of the ESC since 2009 when he succeeded Norway's Unni Nicolaysen.

Alongside Lisin, Finland’s Pekka Kuusisto was re-elected as vice-president.

Yair Davidovich of Israel and Cyprus’ Petros Kyritsis were also elected as vice-presidents.

A series of host cities were confirmed during the meeting for various ESC competitions.

The 2020 European Championship in Air Weapons will be held in Poland, with Finland staging it the following year.

France were named as hosts of the 2020 European Shotgun Championship, beating off competition from Finland and Croatia.

Another decision taken was for a special meeting to be held before the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) elective General Assembly in November next year to help identify the European candidate who will stand in for the global governing body’s election to choose a new President.

Mexico's Olegario Vázquez Raña, the current President, is planning to step down having held the position since 1980.
