Managers at the venue in Lake Placid which will host the 2021 International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Championships have said they are thrilled to be staging the event.

Last month, it was confirmed by the IBSF during their Congress in Salt Lake City that the competition would be held at the city in New York state.

Lake Placid, which hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, beat off St Moritz in Switzerland to earn the right to stage the event.

Competition will be held at the Mt Van Hoevenberg Bobsleigh and Skeleton Track.

Michael Pratt, chief executive of the Olympic Regional Development Authority, which manages the track, said even though there is still four years to go until the event, everyone is already excited.

“The many sporting events we host are very exciting, particularly these diversified multi-sport events,” Pratt said.

“The Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships are a Lake Placid favourite and the crew at Mt Van Hoevenberg is thrilled to again host the best in the world.”

Lake Placid has hosted 10 previous IBSF World Championships, with the most recent being in 2012.
