A new website has been launched by the Australian Cross-Country Skiing (AUSXC) team.

The site, available here, has taken a year to develop and is smartphone and tablet friendly.

Among the features of the website is a national race calendar that details all the dates and locations of competitions in the country during the season.

Visitors will also be able to find information on competition rules, selection policies and race licences.

"AUSXC will continue to bring you regular news and results from the Australian winter and on Australian skiers racing around the world," a statement from AUSXC said.

"AUSXC would like to thank everyone who helped to get the new site up and running, in particular, site designers and programmers Robbie Catto-Smith and Kate Prest for countless volunteer hours squeezed in between family, work, university and life commitments."

Australia were first represented in cross-country skiing competition at the Winter Olympics in 1952 when the Games were hosted in Norway’s capital Oslo.

Bruce Haslingden and Cedric Sloane were the country’s representatives there, finishing 74th and 75th respectively in the men’s 18 kilometre race.

Both featured in the 50km competition, but neither finished.

The country has been represented in the sport at another 11 Games, with their best result coming at Vancouver 2010 when Ben Sim and Paul Murray were ranked 20th in the men’s team sprint.
