More than 300 riders are due to appear at the event in the Dutch town's Sportpark Meerdijk with competition being spread over three days.

Along with being the last of the season, the World Cup stage will be the final event before the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships taking place in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, between August 31 and September 3.

Emmen is scheduled to host the 2019 Para-Cycling Road World Championships.

Tomorrow will see the individual time trial get the action started before eight road races takes place on Saturday (July 1).

Proceedings finish on Sunday (July 2) with the H1-H5 team relay and the remaining seven road races.

Lap distances will consist of 2.2 kilometres for the team relay, 7.1km for the road races and 8.6km in the time trials.

Lots of attention will be on the home team following strong showings at the previous World Cup stages in Maniago in Italy and the Belgain city of Ostend last month.

Among the cyclists included in the Dutch squad are Vincent Ter Schure, the gold medallist from Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in the men’s B road race.

He is joined by two Rio 2016 champion in the form of Daniel Abraham Gerbu, who topped the men’s C4-5 road race podium in the Brazilian city, and women’s C1-3 time trial winner Alyda Norbruis.

Other Rio 2016 gold medallists featuring in Emmen include Italian duo of Luca Mazzone and Paolo Cecchetto, US rider William Groulx and Australia’s Karen Cooke.

In the Great Britain squad, Paralympic track cycling champions Megan Giglia and Louis Rolfe feature as they look to stake a claim on the road for spots at the World Championships.
