The squad, announced by the South Africa Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), will compete across 10 of the sports due to take place at the event, which runs from July 20 to 30.

South African competitors will participate in aero sport, archery, cue sports, gymnastics, powerlifting, sport climbing and tug of war.

Jean Kelly has been named as South Africa's Chef de Mission for the Games and has predicted a strong showing from the African nation.

"I'm humbled to lead team South Africa to yet another world prominent event," said Kelly.

"I believe that our best team has been selected across the wide spectrum of the sport codes and to this end I am also confident that this will be reflected by their excellent performance at the Games.

"I wish the team all the best at the Games, enjoy the experience and best rest assured that the whole nation is behind you."

South Africa claimed four medals at the last edition of the World Games, held in Cali in Colombia in 2013.

They clinched gold in the rugby sevens event and earned two bronze medals in lifesaving and another in tug of war.

"Previous editions of the World Games have proven to be a very competitive sporting arena where our athletes have to fully prepare to tackle the world in various sports disciplines," SASCOC chief executive Tubby Reddy said.

"But I believe our athletes are well prepared and will improve on the medal count we achieved in previous Games."

Around 4,000 athletes from 31 sports and more than 100 countries are expected to participate in Wrocław

A record 111 countries are due to compete, with the Games featuring sports and disciplines not on the Olympic programme.

The number is eight more than the previous highest turn-out for the event in 2013.
