Double Paralympic champion Kadeena Cox has revealed two of her medals have been handed to the police after they were stolen from her car earlier this month.

The 26-year-old had her T37 women's 100 metres and T35-38 4x100m relay medals from the 2015 World Para Athletics Championships in Doha taken on June 8.

Cox left the medals in her car in Prestwich, just outside of Manchester.

She spent the evening filming in London and only became aware they had been stolen when she got home.

"I had taken my medals out because I was doing some filming with them," she told Manchester Evening News.

"When I got home I unpacked the car and took my Paralympics medals inside, but didn’t have enough hands to grab everything so left the two world championship medals behind.

"Unfortunately I forgot to go back and get them and went to London the next day."

They have now been handed in and Cox took to social media to express her delight.

"Thank you so much to every single person that shared and retweeted my post...my medals got handed into the police this morning." she wrote.

Cox became the first British athlete since 1988 to win a medal in two sports at the same Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro last year.

She won the T38 400m and the C4-5 time trial in cycling.

Earlier this month Cox was named in the team that will represent Great Britain at this year's World Para Athletics Championships in London.

The 49-strong squad for the event being held between July 14 and 23 includes 21 medallists and 10 champions from Rio 2016.
