Russia and the United States will clash for the gold medal in the women's event after the two countries emerged victorious from their respective semi-finals at the World Flying Disc Federation World Championships of Beach Ultimate in Royan in France.

The US overcame North American rivals Canada in their last four contest, progressing by virtue of a 12-8 win.

Becky Malinowski was the star performer for the American team as she scored three, while Calise Cardenas, Cree Howard and Sarah Levinn all chipped in with two apiece.

Russia then ensured they would get the chance to clash for the title as they swept aside Britain 12-6.

Olga Podolskaia scored three and also assisted two, with team-mate Alisa Tizik also managing a hat-trick in a convincing win for the Russian side.

Britain were able to bounce back from their disappointing semi-final exit as they claimed the bronze medal by beating Canada 13-5.

The men's bronze was also decided today as the host nation gave those who had come out to watch the event something to cheer, edging The Philippines 13-10 in a high-scoring affair.

The women's and men's finals are both scheduled to be held tomorrow.

The US will have the chance to sweep both titles on offer as their men are set to take on Britain in the men's gold medal encounter.
