The National Olympic Committee of Zambia hosted the fifth edition of the OlympAfrica Futbolnet Cup over two days.

The football tournament is supported by the International Olympic Committee and the FC Barcelona Foundation, the charity of the Spanish La Liga side.

Held at the OlympAfrica centre in Lusaka, the programme is based on methodology developed by the Barcelona Foundation which uses football as an educational tool.

They claim their programme promotes the values of sport, such as team building, fair play and respect for others among young people.

Children came from the OlympAfrica centres of Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles and Zimbabwe, as well as Zambia to take part.

Matches were not only decided by scoring goals, with sporting values also considered a key part of the tournament.

It is hoped this will reinforce the Olympic values and encourage young people to become strong ambassadors for sport.

Teams representing the OlympAfrica centre in Lusaka won the two age group tournaments, with the first held for 12 to 13-year-olds.

Malawi and Zimbabwe completed the top three.

The 14 to 15-year-olds event also saw the hosts and Malawi finish first and second, while Mauritius took third place.
