The IBSF invited prospective pilots from Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic to take part. 

For eight days the beginner pilots learned about the sleds and took part in daily track walks with the coaches. 

Every driver also enjoyed three training runs per day on the course.

The governing body provided coaches and track fees and subsidised accommodation and sled rental. 

IBSF Para-sport coordinator Kristaps Kotans oversaw proceedings, while former bobsleigh pilot Edgars Maskalans of Latvia was handed the role of track coach.

The school was part of the IBSF Pilot Development Programme which helps emerging nations.

These countries are defined as nations without a track and without three or more pilots in three or more IBSF disciplines.

The focus is on driving, but the programme also aims to cover other elements such as sled maintenance and mechanics, logistics and physical preparation.

Pilots began at lower starts and progressed gradually. 

Para-bobsleigh will debut at the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing.
