Prasiantsova and Kasyanik were the strongest in the fencing stage and held on to their advantage for the rest of the day, defending a laser run lead of 22 seconds with ease to win with a score of 1,431 points.

"We are feeling good because we fenced really well, swam really well and rode well," said Prasiantsova.

"Shooting was not so nice but we ran strongly - we really wanted this win."

Great Britain's Joanna Muir and Myles Pillage were forced to settle for silver on 1,404 while the battle for bronze was won by Hungary's Tamara Alekszejev and Tamas Bence Frohlich who completed the event with a score of 1,389.

Myles and Pillage were quickest in swimming in a time of 1min 56.81sec but it was Prasiantsova and Kasyanik who dominated the fencing with a record of 28 wins and 14 defeats.

There were polished performances for a number of teams in the riding discipline.

Great Britain scored 295 points, Belarus eased to 293 while Hungary scored 287.

Japan, however, faltered and could only score 279 while Russia's Uliana Batashova and Alexander Lifanov were eliminated.

In the laser run, Alekszejev and Frohlich were the star performers but their efforts failed to narrow the gap to Belarus and Britain, who defended their positions strongly.

Italy's Irene Prampolini and Matteo Cicinelli also made ground up and overtook Japan to finish fourth.

Egypt were holding the event before the country stages the World Championships later this year in Cairo.

The UIPM 2017 World Cup season is set to resume in May with the third event in Kecskémet in Hungary between May 5 and 7.
