The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Americas has confirmed that Colombian city Cali will host the 2017 Americas Cup.
The event, scheduled to take place from August 2 to 12, will see the region’s top 10 men’s and eight women’s teams compete.
The best four from each will qualify for the World Championships, due to be held in German city Hamburg in August 2018.
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, the United States and Venezuela will face-off in the men’s event.
The women’s teams are set to be confirmed by April 30 and will include two from North America, two from Central America and the Caribbean and four from South America.
The Colombian Federation of Sports for People with Physical Impairment will be responsible for organising the event.
The US won gold medals in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
They beat Spain in the men’s final and Germany in the women’s final.
Hamburg was announced as the host of the 2018 World Championships in October of last year.
The world's best players will compete for global crowns between August 17 and 26 at the Wilhelmsburger Inselparkarena.
A total of 16 men's teams and 12 women's teams will compete in all, with the German bid beating off competition from Dubai, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
