Triathletes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee have teamed up with the British Olympic Association's (BOA) partner Aldi to support a healthy eating initiative which is aimed at youngsters.

The brothers will join forces with the supermarket chain to promote "Get Set to Eat Fresh", which aims to reach 1.2 million children by the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Alistair, who won the Olympic triathlon title at Rio 2016, and Jonathan, who won silver, will be the new faces of the programme.

In return, Aldi will support the siblings as they build up to Tokyo 2020.

The pair will promote healthy eating with Get Set Eat Fresh aimed at those between the ages of five and 14.

A schools programme teaches children to understand fresh and healthy food and how to cook for themselves.

So far, 2,000 schools have signed up with 400,000 pupils reached.

Other British Olympians have already been involved, including boxer Nicola Adams, modern pentathlete Samantha Murray, gymnast Dan Purvis and BMX cyclist Liam Phillips.

"We’re incredibly excited to be the official ambassadors of the Get Set to Eat Fresh programme, which we know will have a huge impact on young people’s healthy eating habits nationwide," said Alistair Brownlee, who also won the Olympic triathlon title at London 2012.

Bill Sweeney, chief executive of the British Olympic Association, added: "Our partnership with Aldi has been a great success and their commitment to the Team GB brand has been a huge positive for us, highlighted with the continuation of the partnership to Tokyo 2020.

"Undoubtedly one of the great successes has been the Get Set to Eat Fresh programme.

"Aldi’s commitment to continue to grow this programme and help improve young people’s understanding, and the importance of eating healthy, fresh food is fantastic.

"To have two athletes of the calibre of Alistair and Jonny emphasises the quality of the programme but more importantly, their feats in Rio and the lives they lead as elite athletes can be an inspiration to young people throughout the UK."
