France's Camille Serme has reached a career best number two in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Rankings after her victory at the Tournament of Champions last month.

Serme defeated England’s Laura Massaro in the final in New York City to win the title, her second success on the PSA World Tour in three months, having brought home the US Open in October.

The 27-year-old has replaced Egypt’s Nouran Gohar, who has dropped to fourth in the world, as the second best ranked player.

Another Egyptian, Nour El Sherbini, remains in the number one spot.

"It means a lot for me to be number two in the world," Serme said.

"It’s my highest ever ranking, so I’m excited by that because it takes me one step closer to my ultimate dream.

"But I know the road is still long and the last step is always the hardest."

In the men’s rankings, England’s James Willstrop moved into the top 10 for the first time since 2014 after reaching the Tournament of Champions semi-finals.

He is now ranked ninth, a move of two places.

This is the only change in the top 10, with Egyptian duo Mohamed Elshorbagy and Tournament of Champions winner Karim Abdel Gawad in first and second respectively.
