Ireland's Fionnuala McCormack will be seeking a third win at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Antrim International Cross Country at Greenmount tomorrow.

McCormack will be looking to continue the strong form she displayed taking second-place at last week's Great Edinburgh Cross event.

She will face a tough task, however, over the 5.6 kilometres course in what also marks the fourth stop on the IAAF Cross Country Permit series.

Rivals include Kenya's 10,000 metres track specialist Caroline Kipkiru and Ethiopia's Birtukan Adamu, third in Antrim in 2015.

Snowy conditions in Northern Ireland may play to McCormack's advantage though.

Romania's Ancuta Bobocel will be another strong European contender after a fourth place finish at the European Cross Country Championships last month.

Kenya's 3,000m steeplechase Olympic champion Conseslus Kipruto will aim to convert his track form to the mud in the 8km men's event.

Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco, fourth behind Kipruto at Rio 2016, will be another strong African challenger.

He has already shown good form this season after finishing third over 9.4km course at the Cross le Maine Libre in Allonnes in France in November.

Britain's Andy Vernon, a member of the gold medal winning men's team at the European Championships, will also compete.

Another British contender is Derek Hawkins, the marathon specialist and elder brother of Edinburgh second-placed finisher Callum.
