Organisers of this weekend’s International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Skiing World Cup in Swiss village Wengen have changed the order of tomorrow’s Alpine combined event owing to expected fresh snowfall.

The opening downhill section scheduled for the morning will now begin at 12.45pm (GMT), allowing workers additional time to clear snow from the course.

The slalom run, originally scheduled in the afternoon, will now start at 9.45am.

An attempt to move the downhill from Saturday (January 14) to Sunday (January 15) in search of better weather was turned down.

Austria’s Marcel Hirscher goes into the weekend as the overall World Cup leader with 893 points.

France’s Alexis Pinturault is second with 594 points, while Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen is third with 592.

Pinturault won last weekend’s giant slalom in Swiss village Adelboden as Kristoffersen took top honours in the slalom.

Five-time reigning overall champion Hirscher managed second and third place finishes in the respective races.
