Scotland's women and China's men claimed gold medals today at the World Junior-B Curling Championships in Östersund.

Scotland won 7-4 over Turkey in the women's final after earlier ousting China 6-2 at the semi-final stage.

Turkey overcame Japan 6-4 in their semi-final at the Östersund Arena.

But the Japanese recovered to beat China 6-3 in the bronze medal match to secure a spot at next month's World Championships in South Korean city Gangneung.

Competition was open to junior teams from all World Curling Federation (WCF) Member Associations that have not already qualified for that event.

The top three men's and women's teams overall qualify for the Championships, which are scheduled to take place from February 16 to 26 and are a test event for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

They will join China and Turkey at the World Junior Championships as well as Canada, South Korea, Norway, 2016 winners Scotland, Switzerland, Sweden and the US.
