International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine skiing World Cup action is due to resume tomorrow with giant slalom races in Adelboden in Switzerland and Maribor in Slovenia.

Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg will seek to replicate her 2016 victory in the women's event in the Slovenian resort.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic giant slalom champion is yet to win across any discipline during this season's World Cup series.

But, after finishing third in Semmering late last month to secure a first podium finish, she will be hopeful of greater success this time out.

Rebensburg currently lies 11th in the giant slalom World Cup standings, with her total of 116 points putting her almost 300 behind French leader Tessa Worley.

United States' Mikaela Shiffrin, Switzerland's Lara Gut and Italy's Marta Bassino lie second, third and fourth respectively after five events.

Austria's Marcel Hirscher, the winner of last year's Adelboden men's race, has also been dominant this season.

His points total of 353 sees him comfortably lead the World Cup standings after four giant slalom events.

A win last time out in Alta Badia ended a run of three successive second placed finishes: in Soelden and twice in Val d'Isere.

France's Alexis Pinturault lies second in the World Cup standings on 289 points.

Team-mate Mathieu Faivre lies third a further 19 points behind.
