Latvia earned a thrilling 6-5 win over Russia to maintain their unbeaten run at the World Junior-B Curling Championships in Östersund in Sweden today.

The Latvians followed their victory over Lithuania in last night's clash with success against another neighbour at the Östersund Arena.

This result leaves them as one of two unbeaten men's teams in Group A after three rounds of matches.

Czech Republic also continued their 100 per cent record courtesy of a 4-3 success over winless Lithuania.

China won 7-1 over Slovenia to maintain their winning record in Group B.

Denmark also moved onto three from three after beating The Netherlands 5-2.

Slovakia edged Hungary 6-5 while Spain defeated England 8-6 elsewhere in the group.

Germany and Turkey stayed at the top of Group C after being among the day's other winners.

Germany thrashed Hong Kong 12-3 while Turkey squeezed past Japan 4-3.

The top two teams in each men's and women's round-robin group will proceed to the quarter-finals along with the third-placed team with the best draw shot challenge.

The other third-placed teams will play a qualification game to determine the last quarter-finalist.

Competition is open to junior teams from all World Curling Federation Member Associations that have not already qualified for the 2017 World Junior Curling Championships in South Korean city Gangneung.

The top three men's and women's teams overall will qualify for the Championships, which are scheduled to take place from February 16 to 26 and are a test event for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Round-robin action in Östersund is due to run through to Sunday (January 8).
