Russia's Sergey Ustiugov and Sweden’s Stina Nilsson both won their second races in as many days at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Cross-Country World Cup event in the German resort of Oberstdorf today.

Ustiugov powered to victory in the men’s 10 kilometres skiathlon event yesterday and finished in first place once again today in the men’s 15km pursuit.

The Russian, who currently tops both the overall World Cup and Tour de Ski standings, finished in a time of 37min 58.5sec to set a Tour de Ski record of winning four consecutive races.

"Early in the race I did not feel so good," said Ustiugov.

"I was watching for Martin (Johnsrud Sundby) to catch me.

"But when he did not come I decided to go for it.

"I gave everything I had today."

Trailing in second place was Norway's Sundby who crossed the line in 38:35.7.

Sundby has now fallen even further behind Ustiugov in the Tour de Ski rankings as he trails by 42.2 seconds.

Canada's Alex Harvey narrowly finished in third in a time of 39:07.3 to remain behind Ustiugov and Sundby in the overall Tour standings.

Meanwhile, in the women's 10km pursuit, Nilsson claimed her second win of the Oberstdorf stage following her 10km skiathlon race victory yesterday.

The Swede, a team sprint bronze medallist at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, crossed the line in 27:42.7.

"My tactic was not to be in the front," said Nilsson.

"I wanted to be in a good position before the last downhill.

"I had great skis.

"It is amazing to win again here in Oberstdorf."

After narrowly finishing second today in 27:44.4, Norway's Heidi Weng lost just over two seconds to Nilsson in the overall standings and is now 6.7 seconds behind.

Weng’s compatriot Ingvild Flugstad Østberg, who lost ground on the top duo yesterday when she could only manage a 13th place finish, improved today after she came third in 27:44.5.

The top three finished well ahead of the field with their nearest challenger, Finland's Krista Parmakoski, finishing in 28:25.1 to secure fourth place.

Further individual and mass start events are scheduled to be held in the Italian resorts of Toblach and Val di Fiemme on Friday and Saturday (January 6 and 7) before the Tour de Ski concludes with a climb free technique pursuit on Sunday.
