On Thursday (December 22), it was confirmed by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) that the World Junior Championships will no longer held in Ostrov next year.

A World Cup event due to take place in Tyumen from March 9 to 12 has also been pulled from the country, with the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) claiming the decision was made by them.

Tyumen was also chosen in September to host the 2021 World Biathlon Championships in a decision which proved highly controversial due to the state-sponsored doping allegations concerning Russia.

But Slokvik, President of the Norwegian Biathlon Federation (NBF), said keeping it there would not be right.

He added the IBU will discuss the matter further at their next congress, which according to the IBU website will take place in Porec, Croatia, in 2018.

“I think that it will be wrong to hold the World Championships in Russia” the NBF chief told the Framtid I Nord newspaper.

“This question will be discussed during the next congress.

“There is no rush.”

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has given the IBU the names of 31 Russian athletes who are linked to the inquiry looking at doping samples being tampered with, including some at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The IBU has started “formal investigations” into 29 of the named athletes.

Two of the Russians are not being investigated because one was only competing at national level, so is not under IBU jurisdiction, and the other was already banned.

Since the second part of the McLaren Report was published, high profile events have been taken away from Russia.

These include the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Championships, which were due to take place in Sochi in February.

The World Cup Speed Skating Final, planned to be held in Chelyabinsk from March 10 to 12, has also been moved by the International Skating Union (ISU).
