Azertac have been announced as the media partner of next year’s Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

The company are one of the leading Azerbaijani media organisations and they are set to provide coverage of the fourth edition of the Games.

It was claimed Azertac will assist with the promotion of the international event, due to take place in Azerbaijan’s capital city.

The official state news agency confirmed they were set to take up the post after a meeting between their director general Aslan Aslanov and Jayne Pearce, Baku 2017 director of press operations.

Azertac were the official news agency of the inaugural European Games, which took place last year in Baku.

Their 50-strong team of journalists provided text, video and photographic content from the Games.

They have also worked at the UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship, this year’s Formula 1 European Grand Prix in Baku and the Chess Olympiad in September.

The Islamic Solidarity Games are due to take place from May 12 to 22 in 2017.

The Games is expected to attract up to 5,000 athletes from Islamic states around the world.

They will be representing their nations in 20 different sports, including 24 disciplines, in 16 venues.

Baku was awarded the Games at the ISSF's General Assembly in Saudi Arabian city Jeddah in July 2013.
