Ljubljana were crowned winners of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Final seeing off the challenge of Hamamatsu in Zayed Sports City.

Having topped their pool on the opening day of the tournament Ljubljana faced their fellow Slovenians Piran in the quarter-final stage.

A 16-13 triumph saw them set up a tie against surprise package Caguas in the last four but Ljubljana had too much for the Puerto Rican team as they emerged as 22-15 winners.

Hamamatsu were the only team left in Ljubljana’s way, the Japanese side having impressed to come through the other side of the draw to reach the final.

Their most notable triumph came in the semi-finals, where the underdogs convincingly overcame defending champions Novi Sad Al Wahda from the United Arab Emirates.

Ljubljana, who earned their last FIBA 3x3 professional title back in 2013, ended up as the overall winners in the United Arab Emirates' capital  after triumphing 21-12 in the final.

Their superb run throughout the tournament had been in part due to the excellent shooting of Jasmin Hercegovac, who ended with 50 points from the five games.

Victory saw the Slovenian team pick up a $30,000 prize (£24,000/€27,000) and ensure their place in the FIBA 3x3 All Stars.
