Argentina's Jorge Lencina has been disqualified from the men’s judo under 90 kilograms competition here at the Paralympic Games after being provisionally suspended for an anti-doping rule violation.

Lencina, winner of a men’s 90kg bronze medal at London 2012 after finishing third in the men’s 81kg category at Beijing 2008, has returned an adverse analytical finding for clomiphene in a urine sample provided in an out-of-competition test on September 8 - two days before competing here.

The substance is included on the 2016 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2016 Prohibited List under the category "S4.3 Hormone and metabolic modulators" and is prohibited at all times, both in and out of competition.

As a result of his violation, Lencina has had his seventh-place finish in the men’s under 90kg class disqualified.

The Parapan American Games champion, Argentina’s first and only athlete to compete at both the Olympics and Paralympics, has had his Rio 2016 accreditation withdrawn and has left the Paralympic Village according to the International Paralympic Committee.

He has been provisionally suspended with the case now transferred to the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), the world governing body for Para-judo, to judge on the possible consequences after Rio 2016.

The 41-year-old is the second athlete to return an adverse analytical finding during Games time with Saudi Arabian powerlifter Mashal Alkhazai suspended for eight years earlier this week after failing for metenolone in a urine sample provided in an out-of-competition test on September 4.

Metenolone is also included on the 2016 WADA Prohibited List under the category "S1. Anabolic Agents" and is prohibited at all times, both in and out of competition.

As a result of his violation, Alkhazai will be ineligible from competition from September 11, the date of the decision, until September 12, 2024.

Like Lencina, he has had his Rio 2016 accreditation withdrawn and has left the Paralympic Village.
