The recently launched Olympic Channel has announced that it will broadcast 35 upcoming live events across a variety of sports, in partnership with a number of International Federations (IFs).

These include ice hockey Olympic qualifiers for Pyeongchang 2018, as well as a number of other world-class competitions from around the globe.

The new digital platform, which pledges to allow fans to "experience the power of sport and the Olympic Movement all year round" is now available worldwide online and via mobile apps after launching on August 21.

The Channel - widely seen as the most significant development to come out of IOC President Thomas Bach’s Olympic Agenda 2020 reform initiative - was launched immediately after the Rio 2016 Closing Ceremony.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) spent just over $11 million (£8.3 million/€9.7 million) on the newly-launched Channel.

Some of the events that will be broadcast include the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Grand Final, the World Table Tennis Cadet Challenge and the 2016 3x3 Basketball World Tour Final.

In addition to these events, the Olympic Channel team is currently working with IFs to create "innovative partnerships", including event coverage, highlights, magazine shows, news coverage and original programming with further announcements expected before the end of the year.

"We look forward to working with our IF partners to help distribute their events and extend their reach to fans around the world," said Mark Parkman, general manager of the Olympic Channel.

"Placing a spotlight on Olympic sports and athletes outside of the Games themselves is one of the key priorities of the Olympic Channel.

"Launching the Olympic Channel with this event programming already in place ensures that fans will be able to continue their excitement of Rio and the Olympic Games all year long."
