The 22-year-old is currently facing more surgery following his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury last January, and now the halfpipe specialist has decided that enough is enough.

“During my injury break I had a lot of time to think about my future," said the Swiss.

"Due to the many injuries I have suffered over the past five years, I came to the conclusion that I have to quit on health grounds.”

However, the skier with eight World Cup starts under his belt said it was a difficult decision to make.

“It wasn't easy, but I'm sure that it was the right call," he said.

Besides a short career on the World Cup tour, Meyer looks back on a fourth place finish at the 2010 Junior World Championships in New Zealand, as well as a seventh at the 2015 Kreischberg World Championships, as highlights.

“I have gained a lot of nice experiences which will last forever,” said Meyer, who now plans to concentrate on his new career.

“I'm motivated to improve my skills working as a chef again.”
