Janja Garnbret secured a hat-trick of International Sport Climbing Federation (IFSC) World Cup victories after triumphing at the latest competition in Briançon, France.

The Slovenian climber had won the lead discipline event at both the Chamonix and Villars World Cup competitions in the past two weeks.

Garnbret continued her form by being the only athlete to touch the final crimps on the course, during the time allocated to the climbers.

Austria’s Jessica Pilz and Magdalena Röck were able to claim the remaining podium places in the event, after impressive displays in the final.

Fellow finalists Hélène Janicot and Mathilde Becerra of France missed out on medals.

There was further success for the Slovenian team as Domen Skofic triumphed in the men’s competition to secure his second gold medal of the season.

The Chamonix winner made up for his failure to qualify for last week’s final in Villars by storming to victory on a tough course, which featured a slippery beginning to catch out some climbers.

France’s Romain Desgranges claimed a silver medal in front of a home crowd, after successfully negotiating the tough challenge.

The podium was completed by Canada’s Sean McColl, who was victorious one week ago.

The next IFSC World Cup lead event is scheduled to take place in Imst from August 19 to 20.
