European Taekwondo Union (ETU) President Sakis Paragalos had led a delegation to Ulyanovsk to discuss the development of Para-taekwondo in Russia and Europe.

He was joined by ETU vice-president Fred Buitenhuis and deputy secretary general Constantin Apostol on the trip to the city located on the Volga River 893 kilometres east of Moscow.

The city may host the sixth edition of the European Para-taekwondo Championships should be stage in Ulyanovsk next year.

Competition would be held during the Russian Under-21 Taekwondo Championships, which are currently scheduled to take place between May 25 to 28.

The Volga-Sport-Arena would hold the competition, with Paragalos joining European Para-taekwondo Union vice-president Evgeny Klyuchnikov on a tour of the facilities.

Previously used for the World Bandy Championships, which took place earlier this year, the venue to hold 5,000 spectators for taekwondo competition next year.

A meeting was also held with Governor of Ulyanovsk region, Sergey Morozov, to also outline how to develop Para-taekwondo and adaptive sport in the city.

Morozov signed a collaboration agreement with Paragalos at the close of the meeting, which would see the region seek to boost Para-taekwondo within Europe, as well as Russia.

It was signed to mark the occasion of the ETU representative office opening to work on Para-taekwondo issues in Ulyanovsk.
