London 2017 has announced the appointment of The Sports Consultancy as the exclusive UK rights marketing agent for the sale of the domestic sponsorship rights for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships taking place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The London-based agency will be inviting corporate partners to be part of the "Summer of World Athletics" through the sale of marketing partnerships.

These new partnership opportunities currently include all sponsorship inventory for the World ParaAthletics Championships and national supplier rights for the IAAF World Championships.

The Sports Consultancy’s rights marketing team is headed up by Marc Hope whose athletics selling experience spans 15 years.

This included his spearheading of the successful UK Athletics business at the representation agency where he also secured a string of record revenue breaking partnerships for World and European Athletics Championships and other Olympics sports.

More recently, Hope played a pivotal role marketing the rights for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as part of the team which secured 50 national and global partners for the event.

"We are looking forward to working with Marc and his team at The Sports Consultancy," said London 2017 chief executive Niels de Vos.

"Their expertise in athletics along with their strength and breadth of contacts and methodical, professional approach means that they will be able to hit the ground running and ensure a strong corporate field to mirror that of the world class athletes.

"With strong sales for the priority tickets we expect the 1.5 million tickets available for the 'Summer of World Athletics' to be in high demand when public sales open on August 1.

"We will deliver substantial benefit to all national sponsors who join the 'Summer of World Athletics' in London."

London 2017 will mark the first time that both the World ParaAthletics Championships and the IAAF World Championships are held in the same city in the same summer, bringing together the biggest international stars of track and field.

The World ParaAthletics Championships are due to take place from July 14 to 23, with the IAAF World Championships following from August 4 to 13.

"We are immensely proud to be representing this inspirational event that will see the London 2012 vibe re-created in our great city," said Hope.

"We are confident we will gather a strong line-up of corporate partners who will share in the summer festivities and benefit from the spotlight this event and the world class field of international and British athletes will deliver."

Last month, London 2012 ticketing director Paul Williamson was appointed to fulfil a similar function ahead of London 2017.

Another appointment made by London 2017 was that of Lucy Crickmore, who took up the role of protocol manager.

The two appointments came on the back of high ranking civil servant Sir Robin Young being named co-chair of the London 2017 Organising Committee in April.

Sir Robin, who headed the Department for Media, Culture and Sport as permanent secretary between 1998 and 2001 and the Department for Trade and Industry from 2001 to 2005, is serving alongside fellow chair Ed Warner.

It came after a raft of recent problems within the Committee with managing director Sally Bolton stepping aside earlier this year along with fellow Board members Heather Hancock and Martin Stewart after allegations of a power battle with UK Athletics chair Ed Warner and De Vos.
