Ski jumper Peter Prevc has been awarded the Slovenian Golden Order of Merit after his outstanding season.

The 23-year-old received the honour from the country's President Borut Pahor for his exceptional achievements in sport, for being an inspiration to youth and for his contribution to Slovenia's reputation around the world.

The Golden Order of Merit is one of Slovenia's highest accolades.

Prevc swept all before him during the 2015-16 International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup campaign.

The 23-year-old won a record 15 events and also claimed the Four Hills title and the Ski Flying World Championship.

The 2123 points he gained for finishing on top of the overall World Cup standings was also a new record.

Ski jumping is one of Slovenia's most popular sports with Peter's brothers Domen and Cene also regulars on the international circuit.
