One berth will be available in all of the Olympic weight categories - with four men and four women set to earn quota places for their countries in Papua New Guinea's capital, the 2015 Pacific Games host.

No country from Oceania booked a Rio place through the WTF Olympic rankings, so the one-day event at the Taurama Aquatic & Leisure Centre will be the only way to ensure representation in Brazil in August.

Among those competing will be Australia's Carmen Marton, defeated in a women's under 67kg Olympic bronze medal bout at London 2012 to Germany's Helen Fromm.

The 29-year-old, a World Championship gold medallist in Puebla in 2013, will be joined in the weight division by New Zealand's Rhiannon O'Neal.

In the men's competition, New Zealand's Vaughn Scott, a London 2012 Olympian, will compete at under 80kg ad Australian Safwan Khalil, who lost a London 2012 bronze medal bout with Russia's Aleksey Denisenko, will hope to gain a spot at under 58kg.

A total of 128 taekwondo athletes will compete at Rio 2016.

Forty eight of them will have qualified through the WTF rankings at major events such as the World Championships and Grand Prix series.

Every continent holds its own qualification event, with four places also granted to hosts Brazil.

In addition, the WTF will select four wildcard competitors.
