Posten, the Norwegian postal service, has launched a set of special stamps in conjunction with Lillehammer 2016 to mark the country hosting the Winter Youth Olympic Games.

The stamps have been designed by Live Andrea Sulheim, Marianne Ågotnes, Anja Rullestad and Marte Stensrud, who studied together at Gjøvik University College and who two years ago were chosen to design the visual profile for Lillehammer 2016, the second edition of the Winter Youth Olympics following the event's debut at Innsbruck four years ago.

"It was an exciting task and we learned a lot," said Sulheim.

"We are so proud of the result."

The 25-year-old has also taken the pictures that are used on the stamps.

They show youngsters taking part in activities in some of Norway's spectacular countryside.

"The result is two impressive and breathtaking stamps, who symbolises the vision of the Youth Olympic Games; to inspire youth around the world to participate in sports, live healthy and by the Olympic values," Halvor Fasting from Posten said.

In addition to the stamps, Posten will also print a series of special envelopes during the Youth Olympic Games for collectors.

The event is due to open on February 12 and last until February 21.
