The British Softball Federation (BSF) and the Great Britain Management Committee are inviting applications for the head coach roles of the senior and junior women’s fastpitch teams.

To be considered for either role the applicants will need to be a current resident in the United Kingdom and be willing to make at least a two-year commitment to their team’s programme.

Additionally the BSF are requesting that the candidates need to show a willingness to coach at their softball and high performance academies, as well as training UK-based women and under-19 players in the run-up to overseas tournaments.

The governing body have also stated that it is “highly desirable” the candidates appointed hold either a BSUK Level two coaching qualification or an equivalent qualification from another country, although exceptions could be made based upon experience.

Both positions will be voluntary, as with all current British national softball teams, however expenses incurred in the United Kingdom or by taking teams to competitions overseas will be covered by the federation.

Currently the senior team are ranked as the fifth best nation in Europe, while the junior team are seen as the continent’s fourth best side at under-19 level.

Both teams compete in one European Softball Federation (ESF) or International Softball Federation (ISF) tournament each year, alternating between European and World Championships.

With softball currently under consideration to be included, alongside baseball, as an additional sport at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the BSF are expecting there will need to be more integration between the two teams in the coming years.

To receive an application for either position, prospective candidates are encouraged to email Bob Fromer at [email protected], specifying which team they are interested in coaching.

The deadline for applications is September 28 and in addition to the head coach roles, parties interested in assistant coach roles are also welcomed.
